James Padgett

Al Dhafra Abu Dhabi (ULB) added 33-year-old American power forward James Padgett (203cm-102kg-1991, college: Maryland) to their roster for the 2024-25 season. Padgett was the top rebounder at Lahti Basketball in the Finnish Korisliiga last season, putting up impressive stats of 15.4ppg, 8.2rpg, 1.7apg, and 1.0bpg in 20 games. He was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Finnish Korisliiga Honorable Mention team for his performance. In the previous 2022-23 season, Padgett played for Nike SBL in the Slovakian league, averaging 10.2ppg and 5.6rpg in 22 games. He helped his team win the league title and reach the Cup final, earning the League Player of the Week honors three times. Padgett also had a brief stint with SBL in the Swiss league.
He is a quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career, he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Australia, and of course North America) in ten different countries. Padgett has played previously professionally in Australia (Lightning), Bulgaria (Rilski), Finland (Korihait and Vilpas), France (Vitre), Hungary (Sopron KC), Israel (Maccabi Raanana), Japan (Magic), Romania (Sibiu), Slovakia, and Switzerland (Neuchatel, Lugano, Massagno, and Geneve).
Among many awards, he was selected Eurobasket.com All-Swiss SBL Center of the Year back in 2020.
He graduated from the University of Maryland in 2013 and it'll be his 12th season as a pro player.
